If you're interested in contact lenses, we can evaluate if you're a good candidate
In addition to our unique selection of frames and eyewear, we can also evaluate and provide contact lenses for our patients.
Since contact lenses are a medical device, prescriptions are only valid for one year. Contact lens wearers will need to be seen by an eye doctor on a yearly basis. This ensures good comfort, vision, and fit for healthy eyes. Every eye exam will include the standard comprehensive checks that tell us how healthy your eyes are and what prescription of lenses you may need. If you’re interested in wearing contact lenses, you will have some additional measurements taken to ensure compatibility. If you are a good candidate based on these measurements, Dr. Miller will recommend the best lenses for your needs.
Our eye exam checks all aspects of eye health
At our practice, we test our patient’s eyes with comprehensive eye and vision examination that may include, but is not limited to, the following tests:
- Color vision
- Depth perception
- Blood pressure
- Visual fields
- Visual acuity
- Extraocular movements
- Pupils
- Refraction (determining your prescription)
- Intraocular pressure (a glaucoma check)
- Examination of the surface of your eye (cornea) all the way to the back inside of the eye (retina)
Additionally, your pupils may be dilated to get a better view of the back of your eyes. Individual patient signs and symptoms, along with the professional judgment of Dr. Miller, may significantly influence the testing done. For those who wear contact lenses, or those interested in wearing contacts, we will also ensure fit and comfort by measuring the curvature of the patient’s eye and measuring visual acuity in the eye while the patient is wearing the contacts. For those new to contacts, we will also instruct them on proper care and how to place and remove contact from the eye. If you already wear contact lenses, wear them to your exam. In addition, please bring your contact lens boxes or a copy of your prescription, as well as any solution or drops you may use.
